Globally, the economic consequences of obesity and being overweight are projected to more than double by 2035, reaching $4.27 trillion. This is a significant increase from 2020 and underscores the growing economic burden of the condition.
The treatment of obesity and overweight, along with the impact of a high body mass index on economic productivity, accounts for approximately 2.9% of the global GDP. These figures highlight the substantial economic strain caused by these health issues.
