A man has been sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony for the brutal murder of his wife, who had fled their home in the village of Yarkovo, Novosibirsk region, with their children to escape his abuse. The Novosibirsk District Court concluded the case on June 11th, also ordering the convicted abuser to pay moral and material damages to the murdered woman’s mother and her five children.

The trial, which lasted 13 months, revealed the tragic events that led to the woman’s death. The man could not accept his wife leaving him and tracked her down.

During the trial, the victim’s mother, Anna Kirikeeva, confronted her former son-in-law, asking him why he killed her daughter. He initially denied intending to kill her, despite evidence showing he inflicted multiple wounds. The specifics of the crime and the evidence presented led to his conviction.

The court’s decision aims to provide some measure of justice and compensation to the victim’s family as they navigate the immense loss and the challenges of raising five children without their mother.
