A former deputy head of the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination (BFME) of the Leningrad Region is facing bribery charges after allegedly accepting a large sum of money from a funeral organization. The Investigative Committee announced the charges on June 11, with the investigation ongoing.
The accused is alleged to have received 195,000 rubles via a card transfer from a funeral service company. In exchange, she purportedly provided premises within the BFME and facilitated unscheduled examinations.
A criminal case has also been initiated against the representative of the funeral organization who allegedly gave the bribe. This individual faces charges under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for offering a bribe to an official.
Authorities are currently determining the appropriate preventive measure for the former deputy head. The investigation is actively working to establish all the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
