Improvement in weather expected in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region

St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region are expected to experience improved weather conditions following recent heavy rainfall. According to the city’s chief meteorologist, Alexander Kolesov, drier and sunnier weather is anticipated by the end of the week.

The shift is expected to begin on June 12th, with precipitation gradually decreasing. The main cyclone that brought heavy rains is forecasted to move south, passing through Pskov and further south of Moscow.

While short-term rains are still possible on Russia Day, particularly in the afternoon, the overall trend points towards improvement. By June 13th, precipitation will subside, though wind intensification up to 10 m/s is expected.

From June 14th, an anticyclone will bring sunny and dry conditions to the region. Temperatures are predicted to rise to +20…+24 degrees, with the warmest days expected on June 15th and 16th.

Kolesov attributed the change to an increasing air mass temperature and a shift in wind direction to the west. These conditions will lead to truly summer-like weather, especially on the weekend and the beginning of the following week.
