A young boy is in intensive care after being struck by a car in St. Petersburg. The incident occurred on the Fontanka Embankment near house number 15 around 9:00 PM on June 10th.
The child sustained severe injuries, including an open head injury and skull fractures. He was rushed to a hospital and placed in intensive care.
Preliminary reports indicate the accident happened outside of a designated pedestrian crossing. The boy, who is originally from a village in the Ryazan region, was visiting St. Petersburg with his parents. He reportedly stepped onto the roadway from behind a parked car when he was hit by a Mitsubishi Pajero.
The driver of the SUV is a 42-year-old man. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
