A traffic collapse occurred in Yekaterinburg on the morning of June 11th due to a malfunctioning traffic light at the intersection of Malysheva and Moskovskaya streets. The incident led to significant traffic chaos as drivers struggled to navigate the intersection.
According to eyewitnesses, the situation became so disorganized that one driver took it upon themself to direct traffic. This individual, described as wearing pink shorts, parked their car and stepped onto the roadway to guide vehicles and pedestrians.
Eyewitnesses reported that before the intervention of the impromptu traffic controller, drivers were moving erratically, disregarding right-of-way rules for both vehicles and pedestrians. The actions of the concerned citizen were praised by those present, with one person expressing gratitude for their help.
The State Traffic Inspectorate has been contacted for comment on the situation.
This is not the first instance of citizens stepping in to manage traffic in Yekaterinburg. A similar incident occurred last year when a man helped resolve a traffic jam caused by another broken traffic light. Additionally, a “superhero without a cape” directed traffic at the intersection of Tokarei, Kraulya, and Klyuchevskaya streets after a downpour caused the traffic lights to fail. In that instance, traffic police experienced delays in reaching the affected area due to flooding.
