The Russian funeral industry is experiencing accelerated growth, with revenues up 12.7% year-on-year in the first four months of 2025, reaching 39.5 billion rubles. This marks an increase from the 9% growth rate observed a year prior. The upswing is attributed to both inflation and a rise in mortality rates.

According to Rosstat, the number of deaths in Russia increased by 4.5% compared to the previous year, totaling 662.7 thousand between January and April.

St. Petersburg leads the regions in funeral organization earnings, reporting approximately 3.7 billion rubles in income for the same period. This reflects a 12.8% increase. Following St. Petersburg, the Moscow region recorded 3.2 billion rubles (up 12.9%), the Krasnodar Territory saw 1.9 billion rubles (up 12.2%), and Tatarstan reached 1.1 billion rubles (up 15.8%).

Experts suggest that the market, which had previously contracted after the coronavirus pandemic, is now expanding once again. Future growth may be further driven by regulatory changes and increased oversight within the industry.
