Russians Face Extended Work Week in Late October

Russians will experience a six-day work week from October 27th to November 1st due to a rescheduled day off. The change is prompted by shifting the Saturday, November 2nd holiday to Monday, November 4th.

Despite the longer work week, employees will receive their regular salary. The adjusted schedule allows for a three-day weekend from Sunday, November 3rd, to Tuesday, November 5th, commemorating National Unity Day.

Employees have options to shorten the extended work week. Workers can use paid vacation days or request unpaid leave. However, securing time off outside the pre-approved vacation schedule requires employer approval.

Employers are obligated to grant unpaid leave to specific employee groups upon request. This includes working pensioners (up to 14 days annually) and individuals with disabilities (up to 60 days annually). Unpaid leave must also be granted for significant life events like childbirth, marriage, or the death of close relatives.
