Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, has ordered a report on the investigation into the 2010 murder of 15-year-old Natasha Matyukhina in the Ust-Tarksky district. This order follows the release of two former police officers from the courtroom on June 10, who had been accused of the crime.
The court found the defendants guilty of a traffic accident and abuse of power. However, they were released from criminal liability because the statute of limitations had expired.
The investigation indicates that in 2010, the two police officers struck Natasha Matyukhina with their car. Fearing the repercussions, they allegedly killed the girl and concealed her body, using their positions to cover up the crime.
A witness had previously claimed to have been in the car and witnessed the girl being placed in the trunk; however, the witness recanted this testimony in court.
Bastrykin has instructed Anton Badulin, the acting head of the Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region, to provide a report. This report should detail the results of the criminal case investigation, the evidence collected, and the rationale behind the court’s decision.
