A theatrical musical performance of “Peer Gynt” is set to take place in Kaliningrad on June 27th, launching the “Classics in Ancient Walls” project. The production, based on Henrik Ibsen’s play with music by Edvard Grieg, will be staged in the open area of Brandenburg Castle.
The performance will feature the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra, Ilya Chepelev’s choreographic group, and the “Commonwealth of Actors” theater. Viewers can anticipate a grand spectacle, transporting them to 19th-century Norway and various exotic locales.
The main roles will be portrayed by Alexander Lazarev and Anait Mkrtchyan, with Honored Artist of Russia Nikolai Zakharov directing the production. “Classics in Ancient Walls”: season 2025.
Additional performances of “Peer Gynt” are scheduled throughout the summer and into early autumn, specifically on July 18th and 25th, August 15th and 29th, and September 5th and 12th. Tickets are currently available for purchase.
In addition to the theatrical performance, castle guests can engage in various activities, including archery, viewing siege weapons, visiting the crafts museum, and even horseback riding. The evening can be rounded off with dinner at the “Old Knight” tavern and enjoying scenic sunsets by the bay.
The organizers have requested that attendees adhere to a specific dress code to enhance the classic ambiance. Women are encouraged to wear long evening dresses, which can be paired with sneakers for comfort. Men are advised to wear jackets and bow ties.
