Widespread mobile internet outages in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region are causing significant transportation disruptions. Residents are reporting issues with services like car sharing and train ticket purchases.
The disruptions have affected various areas, including the Yuntolovo residential complex, where mobile internet is reportedly completely shut off and communication is intermittent. Residents in Kolomyagi are reporting a lack of wired internet as well.
In Krasnoye Selo, passengers were unable to purchase train tickets at the railway station due to the internet restrictions. Instead of tickets, passengers received certificates allowing them to travel. The NWPPK clarified that such certificates are issued during cash register equipment failures or power outages. Passengers were also informed about the option to purchase tickets through a mobile application.
The communication issues coincide with reports of three drones being shot down in the Leningrad region on the morning of June 10, leading to a temporary closure of Pulkovo Airport for over three hours. Governor Alexander Drozdenko has warned of mobile communication and internet restrictions in certain areas of the region.
Since the early morning hours complaints about communication problems have surged. Similar problems with mobile internet and communication have also been reported in other Russian regions, including Saratov and Engels.
