Russian and American representatives will meet in Moscow for a new round of negotiations aimed at addressing issues in their diplomatic relations. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to the United States, Alexander Darchiev.
The decision to move these discussions from Istanbul to the respective capitals was made jointly by both sides.
Darchiev acknowledged that complete normalization of relations between Russia and the United States remains a distant prospect.
He attributed the slow progress to opposition within the White House and resistance from members of the U.S. Congress.
Despite these obstacles, the Russian Ambassador indicated that some advancements have been made.
Since the beginning of 2025, there have been three phone calls between the presidents of Russia and the United States, specifically on February 12, March 18, and May 19. These discussions centered on resolving the conflict in Ukraine and enhancing bilateral ties.
Furthermore, Riyadh hosted the first significant negotiations between Russia and the United States since 2021 on February 18, featuring Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Another meeting took place in Riyadh on March 24, followed by discussions in Istanbul on April 10.
