A defendant in St. Petersburg harmed himself during a court hearing on Monday, June 10th, resulting in a medical emergency and the postponement of proceedings. The incident occurred in the Kirovsky District Court during a session to extend the man’s detention.

The defendant is facing charges related to large-scale fraud allegedly committed by an organized group.

Following the self-inflicted injury, the man was promptly removed from the courtroom by ambulance.

The United Press Service of the courts of St. Petersburg confirmed the incident. The hearing has been postponed.
