A criminal case has been launched following a fire in the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg that resulted in the deaths of an elderly couple. The Investigative Committee is handling the case.
The fire took place on June 9 in the “Doni” horticultural association in Pushkin. A three-story residential building was destroyed by the blaze.
Inside the burned structure, the bodies of an elderly married couple were discovered.
The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg announced the opening of a criminal case related to the negligent infliction of death on two individuals.
Currently, investigators are working to determine the specific circumstances surrounding the incident.
Forensic examinations have been ordered as part of the investigation.
According to Mikhail Kulyako, chairman of the horticultural association, the fire took approximately one hour to extinguish. He also stated that the deceased couple had been residents since the founding of the gardening association and were known for being helpful and active members of the community.
Faulty wiring is being considered as a potential cause of the fire.
