Four Territories on Vasilievsky Island to Become Public Green Spaces

Four territories on Vasilievsky Island in St. Petersburg are slated to be designated as public green spaces (ЗНОП). This decision, announced on June 10, aims to increase the city’s green areas.

The additions include a park west of building No. 3 on Alexander Green Boulevard (3.93 hectares), a park west of building No. 5 on Chirikova Street (1.48 hectares), a park west of building No. 7 on Vilkitsky Boulevard (4.4 hectares), and a park south of building No. 5 on Viktor Konetsky Street (0.77 hectares). These amendments were proposed during the second reading of the draft law concerning adjustments to the list of public green spaces.

The bill has already passed its first reading. Following its final approval and enactment, the designated areas will undergo landscaping to enhance their natural appeal.

Governor Alexander Beglov stated the city’s commitment to dedicating 30% of St. Petersburg’s territory to green spaces, emphasizing the ongoing creation of an ecological framework for the city.
