Moscow Court Sentences Man to 24 Years for Murder of Former Skater

A Moscow court has sentenced Andrei Demin to 24 years in prison for the murder of Konstantin Balishansky. The 36-year-old Demin was found guilty of fatally shooting the 34-year-old Balishansky in the Fili-Davydkovo district on June 6, 2024.

Demin’s charges included murder committed in a manner dangerous to the public, attempting to take the life of a law enforcement officer, and the illegal manufacture, acquisition, possession, transportation, and carrying of firearms and ammunition.

During the arrest, Demin wounded a police officer. The investigation considered jealousy as a potential motive. Demin only partially admitted guilt.
