Russia’s national project to build children’s hospitals fell short of its goal, with only 21 of the planned 26 hospitals completed between 2019 and 2024. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko addressed the State Duma, acknowledging the unmet target.
During a meeting with Communist Party deputies, Murashko explained that regional heads failed to complete the construction of five hospitals. Despite the setback, the minister assured that the issue is under close supervision and that funding has been secured to finalize the construction.
Murashko also announced a new three-year national project with an allocation of 76 billion rubles. These funds will be used to re-equip perinatal centers and modernize emergency departments in children’s hospitals.
