Leningrad Region Governor Election Scheduled for September 14, 2025

The election for the Governor of the Leningrad Region has been officially set for September 14, 2025. This decision was reached after a unanimous vote by all 45 deputies present in the Legislative Assembly of the region.

The vote, reported by 47news, was a necessary procedural step that had to occur between June 5 and 15.

Current Governor Alexander Drozdenko has already received the support of President Vladimir Putin for his candidacy. The President and Drozdenko met in March, where they discussed demographic trends in the region, specifically the lower number of marriages.

Drozdenko explained that many families moving to the Leningrad Region are already established, often relocating from St. Petersburg.

In related news, the election for the Governor of St. Petersburg took place in September 2024. Alexander Beglov won with 59.80% of the vote, totaling 895,307 Petersburgers. The voter turnout for that election was 37.76%.
