Storm Warning Issued for Sverdlovsk Region on June 11th

Sverdlovsk region rescuers have issued a storm warning for June 11th, anticipating severe weather conditions. Residents are urged to take precautions against potential hazards.

The region is bracing for hail, thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts reaching up to 18 meters per second on Wednesday. Authorities emphasize the importance of safety measures to mitigate risks associated with the approaching storm.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk region advises those at home during a thunderstorm to close all windows, doors, chimneys, and vents. It is crucial to avoid contact with electrical wiring, lightning rods, roof drains, and antennas during lightning strikes. Electrical appliances should be switched off if possible, and residents should stay away from windows.

Individuals near bodies of water should immediately move away from the shore if a thunderstorm is observed. Seeking shelter under lone, tall trees is strongly discouraged due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Motorists caught in bad weather are advised to stop their vehicles and wait out the storm on the side of the road or in a parking lot, away from tall trees. Windows should be closed, and occupants should remain inside the car until the weather improves.

When caught outside during hail, finding shelter is paramount. Protect your head from hailstones by using your hands, a bag, or clothing for cover. Seeking refuge under trees should be avoided.

Emergencies should be reported by calling “101” or “112.”
