Residents of St. Petersburg are experiencing widespread mobile communication disruptions, impacting services from major operators like MTS, MegaFon, Beeline, and T2. The disruptions, which began early in the morning, have led to numerous complaints about connectivity issues.
The operators have acknowledged the problems but attribute them to external factors. MegaFon stated that its network is stable and the difficulties are beyond their control. Beeline confirmed unstable mobile internet in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, suggesting users rely on Wi-Fi and SMS for communication.
Downdetector, a service that monitors online outages, has recorded a surge in reports for all four major mobile operators, with the majority of complaints originating from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Users have reported issues with mobile internet and phone calls.
The disruptions coincided with reports of downed drones in the Leningrad Region and temporary restrictions at Pulkovo Airport. On the morning of June 10, three drones were shot down across the Tosnensky, Lomonosovsky, and Gatchinsky districts of the Leningrad Region. Governor Alexander Drozdenko cautioned that mobile communications and internet access might be restricted in certain areas. Pulkovo Airport was also temporarily closed for over three hours that morning.
