Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU) has been granted permission to construct a new educational and sports building on the Fontanka Embankment. The permit, which was issued by the State Construction Supervision Service, allows for construction at 1235 Fontanka Embankment, within the designated block area.

The construction permit is valid until December 9, 2026. The planned building will occupy an area of 5,400 square meters and reach a height of 24 meters. This includes six above-ground floors and one underground floor.

The project is estimated to cost almost 900 million rubles. The construction will be undertaken by “TSP,” a company based in Moscow.

Prior to the permit, archaeological work was conducted at the construction site. During this research, the remains of a 19th-century market were discovered.
