The Aurus Senat Limousine L700, a high-class, all-wheel drive hybrid vehicle used in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motorcade from 2018 to 2022, is now on display at the Verkhnyaya Pyshma museum complex. This marks the introduction of the first domestic representative car in modern Russian history.
The vehicle served during high-profile visits, including trips to St. Petersburg in November 2019 and February 2020, Berlin in January 2020, and as the official car for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia.
The Aurus Senat boasts BR5-level protection, capable of withstanding rifle bullet impacts from a distance of 10 meters. It is also equipped with run-flat tires, a fire extinguishing system, and an emergency exit.
Powering the over six-ton limousine is a nearly 600-horsepower engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 170 km/h.
While the car’s exterior design shares similarities with modern Rolls-Royce models, designer Yuri Chernenko drew inspiration from the ZIS-115 of the Joseph Stalin era.
The museum exhibit joins a collection of representative cars, including the ZIS-115 of Joseph Stalin, the ZIL-111A of Nikita Khrushchev, and the ZIL-41052 of Mikhail Gorbachev.
Other models in the Aurus line include the Aurus Long, a shorter version with an extended rear door, the short Aurus Senat, the Aurus Komendant SUV, the Aurus Arsenal minivan, and motorcycles that are part of the presidential motorcade.
