A significant traffic jam has formed on Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev Street in Novosibirsk, leading drivers to resort to using tram tracks to navigate the congestion. The traffic disruption is a direct consequence of ongoing repairs to a heating main.
The construction work has reduced the available roadway to a single lane. The bottleneck is located at the intersection of Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev Street and Nemirovich-Danchenko Street.
Data indicates that the traffic jam extends for approximately 1.6 kilometers along Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev Street. Neighboring streets, including Mira and Nemirovich-Danchenko, are also experiencing increased traffic congestion.
Local residents have expressed frustration and suggested potential solutions, such as allocating a lane from the opposite direction to alleviate the congestion. Some residents describe the situation in the Kirovsky district as a “transport collapse” due to the road closures.
The restrictions on Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev Street are expected to remain in effect until July 15, according to the press service of SGK. The heating main repairs are the cause of the single-lane restriction.
The traffic situation was further compounded recently when a tractor collided with a bus on Bolshaya Street, creating additional congestion at the accident site.
