A woman in the Moscow region has been detained on suspicion of murdering her five-year-old daughter. The incident occurred in Voskresensk, where the child’s body was discovered in an apartment on Rabochaya Street.

The mother herself reportedly contacted law enforcement to report the killing. Preliminary information suggests the girl died from violent causes.

According to investigators, the mother allegedly strangled the girl with a bathrobe belt and then drowned her in a bathtub. Officers from the regional Rosgvardia department took the woman into custody and transported her to the investigative department.

A criminal case has been initiated, and investigators are actively working with the suspect to determine the motives and circumstances surrounding the crime. Forensic experts have examined the scene and have ordered medical, psychological-psychiatric, and molecular genetic examinations.

Neighbors have expressed shock, with one resident noting that the mother always seemed caring. Locals mentioned that the suspect worked at a nearby hypermarket and appeared to be friendly and calm.

The Voskresensk City Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the investigation, and the court will soon decide on a preventive measure for the suspect, potentially involving detention.
