Five polar owl chicks have hatched at the Leningrad Zoo, born to parents Denis and Lika, according to a Telegram channel announcement on June 9.
The owlets hatched throughout the month of May and are currently under the care of zoo specialists, ensuring their survival. In their early days, the chicks are gray and fluffy, resembling kittens, with down providing warmth.
Around two weeks after hatching, the owlets develop their first dark and dense feathers, featuring a spotted pattern.
Zoo officials have reported that the chicks are doing well and have begun to venture out from under their mother’s care in the last week.
The young owls are actively exploring their surroundings, constantly supervised by their parents.
