Chita Embankment Littered with Branches After Approved Pruning

The Chita embankment is currently facing criticism due to unremoved branches following approved pruning. A resident expressed their dissatisfaction with the mess, highlighting accessibility issues for pedestrians, particularly those with strollers.

The city administration has acknowledged the issue and stated that the contractor responsible for the pruning will be tasked with removing the branches. The pruning was conducted as part of an agreement for the protection of a hydraulic engineering structure.

Furthermore, plans are underway for a comprehensive improvement project of the Chita embankment. The project, slated for completion by the end of October 2025, aims to create recreational areas, enhance the coastline, and provide infrastructure for potential future development. Local residents, property owners, and community representatives will be involved in the planning process.

The planned improvements will cover 15.6 kilometers of the embankment. This project is part of a broader master plan for the development of Chita, which has been approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The embankment will also be incorporated into the “Far Eastern Quarter” program, which envisions the construction of 238,000 square meters of housing in Chita by 2033. The Samolet group of companies, a major residential developer, has been contracted for the construction.
