St. Petersburg Charity Shop “Spasibo!” Celebrates 15th Anniversary with In-Store Concerts

The St. Petersburg charity shop chain “Spasibo!” is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a series of concerts held directly in its stores. Admission to the events will be granted in exchange for a package of donated clothing.

“Spasibo!” which translates to “Thank You!”, is recognized as Russia’s first charity shop. The organization operates on a simple model: accepting donations of unwanted items from the public, distributing usable goods to those in need, and recycling unusable items. Proceeds from the sale of donated items are then directed to various charitable foundations that the chain partners with. Donors have the option to choose which organization their contribution will support.

Currently, “Spasibo!” has grown into a network of 11 stores, a recycling production facility, a distribution center, and 230 donation containers located throughout St. Petersburg. Over the past 15 years, the charity has donated 58 million rubles to charitable organizations and provided 1,717 tons of essential items to individuals in need.

To commemorate its 15th anniversary, “Spasibo!” staff have organized a series of concerts featuring independent artists. The concerts will take place within the stores, creating a unique atmosphere where attendees can enjoy live music surrounded by items with a history. The charity promises a memorable evening filled with music and positive emotions.

To attend the celebratory events, individuals can simply bring a package of clothes they no longer need. “Spasibo!” describes this as a “pleasant offer” encouraging people to donate items that no longer bring them joy in exchange for an evening of music and inspiration.
