Tuition Fee Increase in St. Petersburg Universities

Universities in St. Petersburg have announced an average tuition increase of 15% for the 2025-2026 academic year. The orders approving the new costs reveal significant changes across various institutions.

The Mining University leads the increase, with tuition reaching 800,000 rubles per year for all fields of study, marking a 33% rise from the previous year. St. Petersburg State University (SPbGU) has also raised its tuition by an average of 8-10%, a notable increase compared to last year’s 4-5%.

Specifically at SPbGU, “Jurisprudence” tuition has increased from 415,000 to 448,000 rubles, while “Dentistry” now costs 431,000 rubles, up from 371,000 rubles. The St. Petersburg State University of Economics (SPbGEU) saw a 5-6% increase, bringing the cost of “Economics” to 312,000 rubles and “Advertising and Public Relations” to 370,000 rubles.

RANEPA experienced even steeper increases, averaging 15-20%. At the St. Petersburg campus of the Higher School of Economics (HSE), tuition has risen by 6-10%, setting the minimum annual cost at 420,000 rubles.

Other institutions, including ITMO (15%), Polytechnic and GASU (8%), the Technological Institute and PGUPS (7%), and VOENMEH (6-10%), have also implemented tuition hikes. Among medical universities, the Pediatric Medical University recorded the highest increase, with tuition jumping by 25% to 415,000 rubles per year in the main fields.
