Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on June 9 the prevention of a sabotage attempt at a defense industry enterprise located in Moscow. Two Russian citizens were apprehended in connection with the planned attack.
The suspects were found to be in possession of a homemade explosive device at the time of their arrest.
According to the FSB, the individuals had established contact with a Ukrainian organization through the Telegram messaging application. Subsequently, they secured employment at the aforementioned defense plant.
The FSB alleges that the detainees were in the process of assembling explosive devices with the intention of detonating them on the premises of the defense enterprise. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to bring the assembled bombs onto the company grounds.
In response to the incident, a criminal case has been initiated on charges of treason. The investigation is ongoing.
