Ferret Survives Washing Machine, Foundation Accused of Fraud

A ferret that miraculously survived being washed in a washing machine is at the center of a fraud accusation against the “Mister Zhopen” ferret aid foundation in Novosibirsk. Anastasia, a local resident, has reported the foundation to the prosecutor’s office, alleging that they raised money for the ferret’s care but failed to provide proof of assistance.

The foundation allegedly solicited funds for a ferret that had been washed in a washing machine. Anastasia claims that when she requested photos, receipts, and certificates from the veterinary clinic, she was blocked by the foundation. She further alleges that the director of the clinic confirmed that they have never treated ferrets and will not do so. She also pointed out that the funds are collected on the card of the president of the fund, who lives in Antalya, and that there have been no reports to the tax office for a long time.

Elena-Elga Zhuravleva, the founder of the “Mister Zhopen” foundation, explained that the ferret, named Aiza, was washed in a washing machine in the Krasnodar Territory and survived against all odds. The owners initially took the ferret to a clinic to be euthanized due to its severe condition. Although the ferret was officially documented as euthanized, the veterinarian decided to attempt treatment and succeeded in saving its life.

Zhuravleva stated that the ferret received unofficial treatment for traumatic brain injury and bruised lungs, incurring significant costs of approximately 45,000 rubles. To cover these expenses, the foundation initiated a fundraising campaign. Zhuravleva denied any fraudulent activity, stating that the foundation reports to the justice department and the tax office. She suggested that individuals were attempting to create a scandal.

Currently, Aiza is in Krasnodar with a volunteer and is undergoing rehabilitation. The prosecutor’s office of the Novosibirsk region confirmed receipt of Anastasia’s appeal and forwarded it to police department No. 7 and the Federal Tax Service for investigation.
