The third regular river “tram” route in Moscow is set to launch in 2025, running from the ZIL pier to the Novospassky bridge and could potentially open as early as this summer. The new route promises to enhance the city’s transportation network, offering a scenic and efficient way to navigate the capital.
The route will feature several piers, each offering unique connections to the city’s infrastructure. The ZIL pier, already operational as the terminus for regular route No. 2, will become a crucial transfer point with the addition of the third route. Conveniently located at the intersection of Mark Shagal embankment and Likhachev Avenue, it provides access to the MCC station, although a detour is currently necessary due to metro construction.
The Avtozavodsky Bridge pier, opened in 2023, is situated on Novodanilovskaya embankment, near the Academy of Water Transport, Warsaw highway, and Tulskaya platform. With the new route, boats will no longer need to detour at the bridge, streamlining the journey.
The Simonovsky pier, located behind the Riviera shopping center, is nearing completion, with infrastructure and information stands already in place. Access to the metro is available via a 15-17 minute walk to Avtozavodskaya station.
The Torpedo pier, situated on Simonovskaya embankment near the RiverSky residential complex and Eduard Streltsov stadium, is also in its final stages of construction. Despite ongoing construction in the area, the pier itself appears ready to receive passengers.
On the opposite bank of the Moskva River, the Derbenevskaya Embankment pier, located between the 1st and 3rd Derbenevsky lanes, seems to be fully prepared, with a schedule board and a map of the new route already installed.
The terminus of the third route, the Novospassky pier, is located on Krasnokholmskaya embankment, near the Novospassky Monastery and bridge. Proletarskaya and Krestyanskaya Zastava metro stations are within a 10-minute walk.
While no official launch date has been announced, sources suggest the opening may coincide with Russia Day on June 12. The cost of a trip on an electric vessel will range from 300 to 450 rubles, depending on the season and payment method. The first regular route of electric vessels was launched in Moscow in the summer of 2023, the second in the fall.
