Russia to Have an Extended Weekend in June

Russians will enjoy a four-day weekend from June 12th to June 15th in celebration of Russia Day. This break includes the Russia Day holiday on June 12th and a deferred day off from March 8th.

The holiday on June 12th commemorates the adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the RSFSR in 1990. This declaration prioritized the Russian Constitution and paved the way for future reforms.

June 11th will be a shortened working day, ending an hour early. This is standard practice before a public holiday.

The extended weekend is due to the postponement of a day off from March 8th, which fell on a Saturday. This day off has been moved to Friday, June 13th.

The next long weekend for Russians will be in November, for National Unity Day on November 4th.

Taking vacation days in June may not be financially advantageous due to the higher cost of each working day. This is because vacation pay is calculated based on calendar days, while wages are based on working days. With fewer working days in June, the cost of each day increases, potentially reducing vacation pay compared to months with more working days.
