A student in the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region has been caught using “smart glasses” to cheat on the Unified State Exam (EGE) in social studies and Russian language. The student photographed exam materials and allegedly received answers through an earpiece.
The education committee of the Leningrad region confirmed that the student’s exam results have been canceled, and they will not be allowed to retake the EGE on reserve days.
Images of the EGE materials were widely circulated on social networks after the student filmed the tasks with the glasses.
The use of “smart glasses” raised questions about exam monitoring procedures, as the devices are difficult to distinguish from ordinary glasses. The glasses have built-in headphones in the temple, making them undetectable to those nearby.
Approximately 500 graduates have been expelled from the EGE this year, with about half of them caught using cheat sheets.
