Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s Journey: From Russia to Potential Champions League Glory

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian football sensation, is on the cusp of potentially winning the Champions League with PSG. This marks a significant milestone in his career, which began in Russia with Lokomotiv Moscow and Rubin Kazan.

Born in Tbilisi on February 12, 2001, Kvaratskhelia’s football journey started in the youth ranks of Dynamo Tbilisi. After a stint with Rustavi, he caught the eye of Lokomotiv Moscow scouts. Despite initial reluctance to leave his homeland, the move to Lokomotiv in 2019 opened doors for him, both in terms of football prospects and financial security.

During his time at Lokomotiv, Kvaratskhelia faced challenges, including living in a somewhat isolated training base. He made his RPL debut in March 2019 against Anzhi and scored his first goal for Lokomotiv against Rubin Kazan.

However, his loan spell ended in June, and Lokomotiv failed to agree on a new contract. This led to his move to Rubin Kazan, where he quickly became a key player. In his debut season, he played 28 matches, scoring three goals and providing two assists, earning him the title of best young player in the RPL.

After February 2022, Kvaratskhelia left Russia and joined Dinamo Batumi before moving to Napoli in July 2022 for 13.3 million euros. He rapidly became a star in Naples, leading the team to their first Serie A title since 1990. His stellar performances earned him the title of the most valuable player in Serie A and recognition as one of the best young players in the Champions League.

In the summer of 2024, Kvaratskhelia played a pivotal role in Georgia’s historic participation in their first European Championship. He scored a crucial goal against Portugal, helping his team reach the playoffs.

In January 2025, Kvaratskhelia transferred to PSG for 70 million euros. He has since become an integral part of the team, contributing significantly to their success. Now, he stands on the verge of potentially winning the Champions League with PSG in the final against Inter Milan.
