Several contractors who committed violations during the construction of defensive structures in the Belgorod region have compensated for the damages and returned funds to the budget. This announcement was made by regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on May 30.

An audit had revealed financial irregularities exceeding 109 million rubles due to inflated work volumes by contractors seeking extra profit. The authorities then initiated lawsuits against these companies.

Companies such as Stalker, EcoResurs 36, Belgoroddorstroy, BelSpetsTech-stroy, Region Siberia, Avtostrada, and Belstroyplus were among those facing legal action.

Following voluntary reimbursements from some companies, the capital construction department withdrew its claims against them.

Gladkov expressed hope that remaining companies facing lawsuits would follow suit and reimburse the misappropriated funds.
