A 33-year-old St. Petersburg resident was detained by police after allegedly spraying a gas canister in a dining room in the Admiralteysky district, disrupting a breakfast for an excursion group with children. The incident occurred on Sennaya Square at approximately 10 a.m. on June 7.

Police were called to a public catering establishment following reports of an individual spraying a gas canister at visitors. Upon arrival, officers apprehended the intoxicated man and took him to the police station.

Authorities filed a petty hooliganism report against the man. Video footage shows the individual moving erratically around the room before being escorted out by security. Shortly after, visitors are seen leaving the dining room.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region confirmed that there were no casualties as a result of the incident. The dining room was ventilated following the incident. The motive for the man’s actions remains unknown.
