Russian air defense systems reportedly intercepted and destroyed 36 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight, with over a hundred drones downed throughout the day. The attacks spanned five regions: Kursk, Bryansk, Kaluga, Smolensk, and Moscow.
The Kursk region experienced the most intense attack, with 25 drones destroyed on the evening of June 6. Acting Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported that the attacks occurred in multiple districts, including Zheleznogorsky, Konyshevsky, Kursk, Kurchatov, Shchigrovsky, and Fatezhsky. The debris caused damage to a business building and seven vehicles. Dry grass near the city of Shchigry caught fire. No injuries were reported.
In the Moscow region, nine drones were shot down between the night and day of June 6. Governor Andrei Vorobyov stated that the areas targeted included Zaraisk, Odintsovo, Domodedovo, Istra, and Solnechnogorsk. Most drones were intercepted as they approached. In the Istra district, shrapnel injured two people, who are receiving medical care. A private house sustained damage, and regional authorities are providing support to the affected family.
Fifteen drones were shot down over the Bryansk region on the night of June 7, according to Governor Alexander Bogomaz. No casualties or damage were reported.
In the Kaluga region, air defense systems destroyed five drones in the Ulyanovsky, Kozelsky, Borovsky, and Maloyaroslavetsky districts. Governor Vladislav Shapsha reported that debris damaged a car and the fence of a private house in the Maloyaroslavetsky district. No injuries occurred.
Near Smolensk, a Ukrainian drone was disabled by electronic warfare. Governor Vasily Anokhin stated that there was no destruction or threat to the population.
The previous day, air defense systems shot down 82 Ukrainian drones over eight regions between 2:30 PM and midnight. In the Belgorod region, a drone attack on a vehicle injured two people. A building, equipment, and a water supply were damaged in the Kursk region. Drone debris landed on the roof of a house in the Ryazan region, but caused no damage. Air defense systems were active in the Tula region, with no reported casualties. Temporary flight restrictions were put in place at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports because of the attacks.
