Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asserted that the truck drivers responsible for transporting the Ukrainian drones used in attacks on Russian military airfields were completely unaware of the nature of their cargo. This statement was made during an interview with ABC News on June 7th.
Zelenskyy clarified that the individuals involved were simply performing their assigned duties without knowledge of the drones’ intended purpose. “They didn’t know anything. They were just doing their job,” he stated, emphasizing the drivers’ lack of awareness.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy affirmed that Ukrainian special services exclusively utilized domestically produced weaponry in the attacks. He explicitly stated that no Western equipment was employed in the operation.
“This separation was very clear,” Zelenskyy noted, underscoring the distinct use of Ukrainian resources.
The attacks in question occurred on Sunday, June 1st, targeting several Russian military airfields across various regions of Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that these attacks were successfully repelled in the Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions. However, incidents of equipment catching fire were reported in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions.
