Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack targeting thirteen regions within Russia, coupled with an explosion on railway tracks, during the night of June 5-6. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a total of 174 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight.
The extensive drone assault impacted regions including Bryansk, Rostov, Saratov, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Ryazan, Tula, Belgorod, Tambov, Moscow, and Crimea. Additionally, three Ukrainian Neptune-MD guided missiles were reportedly destroyed over the Black Sea.
In the Kaluga region, near Obninsk, five drones were destroyed, with debris damaging four vehicles and causing minor injuries to passengers. Voronezh region reported shooting down more than five drones without any casualties or damage.
In Engels, Saratov region, an apartment building sustained damage, and a fire erupted at an industrial facility. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Airports in Moscow experienced temporary closures, affecting Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Vnukovo. Ten drones were reportedly destroyed over Moscow, with emergency services responding to crash sites.
Three individuals in the Tula region were hospitalized following a UAV attack, where air defense systems downed two drones. In the Belgorod region, a standby locomotive derailed in the Prokhorovsky district due to an explosive device planted under the rails. Train traffic was temporarily delayed but has since been restored.
Authorities remind citizens that if a drone is spotted, call 112 immediately, provide name, address, and a description of the drone, its movements, appearance, and any sounds it makes. Leave the area and warn others. If a drone is found on the ground, do not approach or touch it; instead, call 112.
