Vladimir Kuzmin Still Creatively Active

Vladimir Kuzmin remains a vibrant force in the music scene, maintaining a rigorous schedule of performances and studio work despite reaching his 70th birthday. The celebrated musician, known as the “last romantic” of the USSR and Russia, continues to perform 10-15 concerts monthly, delighting audiences with his timeless hits.

Kuzmin dedicates 5-7 hours daily in the studio, not to compose new material, but to hone his skills and maintain his instrumental prowess. This dedication is crucial for the artist, who tours extensively with his rock band “Dynamik,” throughout Russia.

His concerts prominently feature beloved songs such as “Call Me in the Middle of the Night,” “My Love,” “The Tale of My Life,” “Siberian Frosts,” and “Two Stars.” The hit song “Two Stars,” which he sang with Alla Pugacheva, is approaching its 40th anniversary. The song’s creation is traced back to an article by Mikhail Sadchikov Sr., who recognized Pugacheva and Kuzmin as the top artists of the year in his newspaper column. Igor Nikolaev, inspired by this recognition, penned the iconic duet “Two Stars, Two Bright Tales.”

The elder Sadchikov, a pioneer in music journalism, played a significant role in promoting rock music during the Soviet era, utilizing his position to support emerging artists. He also was the first to introduce annual hit parades, a groundbreaking concept at the time. Kuzmin confirmed Sadchikov Sr.’s involvement in the song’s creation, solidifying the journalist’s legacy in Soviet music history.
