A road bridge collapsed in the Bryansk region of Russia on June 1, with wreckage falling onto a passenger train. Russian authorities have classified the incident, along with other similar events, as terrorist attacks and claim to have retaliated with strikes against military targets in Ukraine.
The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that the bridge near the Vygonichi station had been blown up. On the same night, a bridge in the Kursk region collapsed as a freight train was crossing, causing the train cars to fall onto the road. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has classified both incidents as terrorist attacks.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that it conducted strikes against military targets in Ukraine using high-precision long-range weapons and attack drones. According to the agency, the strikes targeted Ukrainian enterprises involved in the production and repair of weapons, drone assembly workshops, flight training centers, and military equipment depots. The Ministry of Defense claims that all designated targets were hit.
Further incidents reported include an attempted sabotage near the Crimean Bridge on June 3 and an explosion on the railway in the Voronezh region on June 5, which caused train delays. On June 6, a spare diesel locomotive derailed in the Belgorod region, reportedly due to an explosive device planted under the rails.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported that Kyiv committed a terrorist attack using FPV drones at five airfields in various regions, including Murmansk and Irkutsk, where aircraft caught fire but were extinguished. Several participants in the attacks were reportedly detained.
The Kremlin stated that President Vladimir Putin informed his American counterpart Donald Trump that Moscow would respond to Kyiv’s recent attacks on Russian territory.
