The “Summer.Park.Cinema.” film festival season in Gatchina’s Priory Park commences on June 14, offering free screenings of domestic blockbusters, Soviet classics, cartoons, and musical performances every Saturday throughout the summer. The festival runs until August 30.
The program features premieres of films like “Ogniwo,” “Devyataev,” and “Blood Type,” along with beloved cartoons from Soyuzmultfilm studio, including “A Kitten Named Woof” and “The Bremen Town Musicians.” Soviet cinema enthusiasts can enjoy a retrospective of films such as “For Family Reasons” and “ASSA.”
Prior to each film screening, musical performances by vocalists and musicians will entertain guests. On June 22, the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, Mikhail Kuznetsov, a soloist from the orchestra of the headquarters of the Western Military District, will perform songs from the war years. Boris Demin, an international competition winner, will perform on August 2 in celebration of Leningrad Region Day.
The festival’s opening program on June 14 includes a Soviet cinema quiz, the play “Gatchina – a familiar stranger,” and film screenings of “The Wizard of Oz. The Road of Yellow Brick” and “Love of the Soviet Union.”
Admission to all festival events is free. Comfortable poufs, blankets, and a food court will be available for guests.
