Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a drone approaching Moscow on Friday, June 6th, causing temporary disruptions at major airports. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the incident occurred in the Moscow region, and emergency services are currently at the crash site.
The incident prompted the implementation of the “Carpet” plan at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, leading to a temporary suspension of flight operations. Rosaviatsia confirmed that both airports were temporarily unable to receive or dispatch aircraft.
Authorities reported that two additional drones were shot down while approaching Moscow. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
