A chief engineer for a management company in St. Petersburg’s Nevsky district is under investigation for allegedly accepting large-scale bribes. According to the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg, a criminal case has been initiated against the engineer.
The investigation indicates that the engineer allegedly received regular payments of 10,000 rubles from a local entrepreneur since January 2022, both in cash and through bank transfers.
Investigators believe these payments were in exchange for allowing the entrepreneur to illegally access electricity and the basement of a residential building located on Tkachey Street.
The total amount of the alleged bribes is said to exceed 375,000 rubles.
The suspect, reportedly employed by Housing and Maintenance Service No. 21 of “ZhKS No. 2 of the Nevsky District,” has been detained and formally charged. Searches were conducted at his workplace. Authorities are currently determining the appropriate preventive measure.
A separate criminal case has also been opened against the entrepreneur involved, who is accused of bribing an official. He has been charged as well, and a decision on his preventive measure is pending.
