Believers gathered at the Smolensk Cemetery in Saint Petersburg on June 6th to commemorate Xenia of Saint Petersburg, a highly revered saint in Christianity. Families prayed, laid flowers at her grave, and sought her intercession.
A long queue formed as people waited to approach the icon of Xenia of Saint Petersburg in the chapel. Xenia the Blessed is known for her help in family matters, protection from need, and healing of sick children.
The day of remembrance is observed twice a year, on February 6th (name day) and June 6th (glorification). On this day, it is customary to do good deeds, help those in need, and visit loved ones.
