Can the Azov Sea Compete with the Black and Caspian Seas?

The Sea of Azov is experiencing a surge in popularity as an alternative to the Black Sea resorts, particularly after recent environmental issues affected other coastal areas. This has led to increased tourist numbers in Azov coastal towns.

Popular destinations like Yeysk, Golubitskaya, Dolzhanskaya, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk have seen up to 300,000 visitors per season, straining the local accommodation capacity, and causing many agencies to sell out tours well in advance, suggesting independent travel may be the only option for those planning trips later.

The appeal of the Azov Sea lies in its unique characteristics. Its shallow waters, abundance of more modest hotels, fewer crowds, and simpler entertainment options are attractive to many seeking a different kind of vacation experience. Sergey Romashkin, vice president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, has provided a short video with details on finding the best vacation spots on the Azov Sea.
