Police in St. Petersburg have launched a criminal investigation into vandalism following the appearance of the Soviet-era slogan “Peace to the world” on several embankments and bridges throughout the city.

The slogan was stenciled in white paint across at least nine locations.

The locations include the Voskresenskaya, Vyborgskaya, Ushakovskaya, and Arsenalnaya embankments, as well as the Fontanka embankment, Liteyny Bridge, and Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge.

Authorities are currently working to identify the individuals responsible for applying the stenciled images. The “E” center is involved in the investigation.
