Screening of Children’s Art Film “The Shadow of the Caravel” Held in Yekaterinburg

A screening of “The Shadow of the Caravel,” a children’s art film based on the book by Ural writer Vladislav Krapivin, took place at the Yekaterinburg company “Sima-land” on June 5th. The event drew a full house.

Larisa Krapivina, the writer’s daughter-in-law, who is also an honorary worker in the field of youth policy of Russia, a candidate of pedagogical sciences, commander of the Krapivin Center “Caravel,” and the film’s director and screenwriter, presented the film.

Krapivina emphasized the film’s focus on how children’s imagination can overcome adversity, including hunger, cold, and the disruption caused by war. She stated that the film aims to demonstrate the resilience of life, laughter, and children’s games in the face of hardship.

Anastasia Lukicheva, Deputy General Director of Sima-land and a parent of a student from the “Caravel” squad, praised the Krapivin Center. Lukicheva highlighted the center’s emphasis on values such as mutual assistance, support, honesty, and decency, which she believes are essential for developing well-rounded individuals. She noted that the values instilled through Krapivin’s books serve as a lifelong guide for the children.

The Krapivin Center “Caravella” offers children opportunities to learn sports fencing, journalism, maritime affairs, the basics of photography and video, theatrical skills, and more. The center also provides opportunities for sailing and competitions during the summer.

In related news, residents of Tyumen have requested that a small city square be named after Vladislav Krapivin. Additionally, a street in Yekaterinburg is set to be named in the writer’s honor.
