Two women in Siberia are facing charges for allegedly stealing over 500,000 rubles worth of butter from a local factory. The regional prosecutor’s office reports that the alleged crimes took place at a butter factory in the Chanovsky district.
The suspects, identified as a “1C” operator and the head of the finished goods warehouse, are accused of conspiring to steal the butter between October 2024 and January 2025. Authorities believe they then sold the stolen goods and split the profits for personal use.
The investigation also revealed that the women allegedly falsified accounting records to conceal their actions.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the Chansky district has approved the indictment against the two residents under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which concerns appropriation committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a large scale. If convicted, they could face up to six years in prison. The case has now been submitted to the Chanovsky District Court for further proceedings.
Separately, in Novosibirsk, four young men were recently detained on suspicion of theft unrelated to this case.
