Three new streets have been named in Lagolovo, Lomonosov district of the Leningrad region, to reflect the area’s geographical and historical significance. The street names, Dudergofskaya, Polkavaya, and Mozhaisky, were approved by the regional administration and are part of the actively developing A101 Lagolovo district.
Dudergofskaya Street pays homage to the nearby Dudergof Heights, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the highest point in the St. Petersburg agglomeration.
Mozhaisky Street commemorates the testing of Alexander Mozhaisky’s aircraft, one of the world’s first, which took place in nearby Krasnoye Selo in 1884.
Polkovaya Street recalls the area’s history as a summer military hub of the Russian Empire. The location regularly hosted large military exercises starting under Catherine II, led by commander Suvorov. In the 19th century, a large military training complex was erected in Krasnoye Selo, where guard regiments conducted assemblies, exercises, and parades.
A101 Group stated that they actively engage with local authorities and conduct social surveys to decide the most fitting names for streets.
